C.J. Coakley Co., Inc. received a WBC Craftsmanship award this spring for our efforts at the Department of Homeland Security Headquarters on the St. Elizabeths West Campus in Washington DC. The new headquarters is housed in the 270,000 square foot historic Center Building on the 176-acre campus. The entire site was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1990.

C. J. Coakley Co., Inc. was awarded the 9th through 29th Floor tenant and part of the 9th through 31st Floor base building work at the new Capital One Bank Headquarters. The thirty-one story, 1.7 million square foot building is 470 feet tall and is currently the tallest building in Northern Virginia. It is located at Tysons, right along the Beltway near Metro’s Silver Line McLean Station. Work started in November 2016 and was completed in November 2018.

DC Water, Washington, DC’s metropolitan water and sewer authority, created a new centrally located headquarters facility consolidating its administrative offices into a single location with flexible and functional office space. The state-of-the-art environmentally sustainable building was conceived to look like a water droplet.

C. J. Coakley Co., Inc. is proud to announce the completion of our work at the new International Spy Museum at L’Enfant Plaza which is scheduled to open in 2019. The new facility boasts 140,000 square feet and replaces the old museum that was located at 800 F Street. It features rotating special exhibitions, a state-of-the-art theater and lecture hall and multifunctional event spaces.

Originally built in 1976, the CFPB Headquarters project is a renovation of an existing six-story, 503,000 sf Federal office building. The floor slabs and some exterior façade were all that remained after demolition. Our job was to transform the interior back into a habitable, modern space. Renovation projects always prove to be complicated due to the imperfect nature of the original project drawings.

Tysons is an area of Fairfax County that has seen huge changes in the landscape and skyline over the years. Tysons has grown into a booming economic center with high end retail, restaurants, several U.S. corporate headquarters, high tech corporations, apartments and condominiums. During this explosive growth C. J. Coakley Co., Inc. has been alongside working in many of the buildings that make up Tysons current skyline.

Nationals Park has sparked amazing development along the M Street SE corridor, an area of Washington which had been neglected in the past. This has now become a vibrant area of office buildings, restaurants, hotels and upscale condo and apartment buildings. The latest addition to this area is 909 Half Street, SE, now known as One Hill South.

Monumental. Technical. Complicated. Cool. Challenging. Just some of the adjectives for this project that is a large and complex space in all aspects of construction and management. The building hosts some 1.9 million square feet of space. With all this expanse being renovated, the project was certainly not without challenges.
